The leaves are turning brown, the air smells of rain, and people are beginning to bundle up in snug hats and gloves. Autumn has arrived, and with it, a new chapter.

Through the vivid colours of changing leaves, or the flames dancing in your fireplace, or the birds flying high and away to distant lands, this is the perfect time to unlock and nurture your inner artist.

No other season can create such an atmosphere as autumn. With its distinct palette of burnt oranges, deep reds and earthy browns, and its cosy scents of pumpkin spice, cinnamon and apples, it is a great source of inspiration for developing your creativity.

Take yourself on a walk through the whirlwind of colours. Whilst the biting cold may not be your cup of tea, taking a stroll in the changing natural world with a warm travel mug of hot chocolate might be. Put on your fluffiest socks and your warmest scarf, and observe how the seasons blend and move into one another. Pay attention to your surroundings. Perhaps write down what you can see, smell, or hear. Maybe bring a camera or sketchbook and capture these observations.

This is the season of pumpkin-carving, dried-out flowers, and foraged mushrooms, chestnuts and acorns. So whilst it may be tempting to purchase a bunch of autumn-themed decorations and drown your house with them, taking advantage of the fallen apples and leaves is a must.

There are many unique arts and crafts that only this season can offer, exploring all types of artistic mediums. If painting is your calling, why not paint the transitioning landscape? Or decorate apples and pumpkins? Perhaps you love to bake, so hunt down those pumpkin spice recipes. Still not sure? Try using dry flowers and leaves to create scrapbooks or decorations for your home.

Arts and crafts are a very relaxing way to bring some personality into the home and to celebrate the season. Whether you do this alone, with friends, a partner or your children, arts and crafts are fun for everyone.

Autumn is a season of gratitude and abundance, and of letting the bad things decay. So show your appreciation for the natural world by engaging with it and capturing its beauty. Allow your creativity to expand, and yourself to expand with it.

Encouraging the expression of creativity through crafts, writing, and other forms of art that can become beautiful holiday gifts.

We have finally arrived at another Christmas, and undoubtedly you are stressing about all those gifts you must buy and the massive dent in your wallet it will cause. If that is the case, then I think you will enjoy this month’s article, because we will be exploring how you can use the power of creativity to make memorable gifts for your loved ones.

Creating your own gifts is a much more affordable, sustainable option, one which you can alter to suit the tastes of the recipient. For example, rather than settling for a cheap, mass-produced bowl or bauble, make your own! Go to a pottery making class, or buy a plain ornament and some paints, and get started. The piece will be unique, and you can use colours and patterns you know your loved one will like, making it personalised to their individual preferences. Likewise, you could try your hand at painting your loved one, or drawing them, everybody loves a self-portrait.

If painting is not your thing, you could create a scrapbook or photo album of your friend or family member, highlighting all their greatest accomplishments and customising each page with things like tickets from that movie you went to together, or the bus you took to get there. You could decorate the pages with stickers and doodles of things they like and embellish the front cover to your heart’s desire. Make sure you go all out with it.

Finally, every present needs a beautiful card to match it. The most special present you could give someone is one which loudly expresses how you feel. Fill the card from top to bottom with praises and words of love, allow them to flow from your heart. Bonus points if you write a poem and make it rhyme. To make it extra special, you could teach yourself calligraphy and impress them with your newfound beautiful handwriting.

Pick a medium that suits you the most, from origami to woodburning. Do not be afraid to try, every handmade present is bound to be appreciated, no matter how it turns out.

…So, let your inner artist out.

Celebrating has many benefits – it’s scientifically proven in terms of both brain chemistry and psychological benefits.

Not everyone will want to celebrate their relationship, and that’s OK. In February, we will speak to those who want to. Of course, there will also be posts about how to improve relationships (so follow us on our social media). However, you will have the opportunity to correct what needs to be improved so that you can celebrate later with a clear conscience 😉

Those who are in a loving relationship have enormous resources and opportunities. Being in a with someone is about having a safe place where you can celebrate that relationship and the other person, and you can be celebrated! It’s amazing, isn’t it?

The celebration may or may not be a big deal. Grand gestures, expensive outings or gifts, but also valuable at loud confession of how you feel, a deep look in the eye, or a feeling of security with the other person.

Celebrating is another way to express emotions and most often it gives us motivation to act. After all, every celebration usually has a purpose and is planned ahead.

For example, anniversaries are opportunities to cherish the love between two people. In today’s world, where many relationships are short. Remembering and marking the anniversary of getting to know each other or entering into a deeper relationship is an opportunity to say: “I still choose you.” It is often a renewal of the commitment we have to each other. Here we can create a chance to reflect on what brings joy and what is a challenge in your relationship.

When we celebrate, we remind some milestones in our relationship: the first kiss, the first trip together, buying a house, giving birth to a child… This allows us to reflect on how you and your connection have developed and how much you have achieved with your partner. Treat it as a reason for pride and satisfaction, but also let it remind you of the strength and resilience of your relationship.

As you may have read, the benefits of celebrating are enormous and I have not written about all of them here.

Below is my gift to your bond with your loved one.

Habits for a healthy relationship and celebration:

1. Notice and remember reasons to praise or compliment your partner. Usually, we can say or show these things right away, but sometimes it’s not appropriate. So, remember these things and talk about them at the right time.

2. Together, you can set a day a week or a month focused only on celebrating what was good and joyful. Plan this time and it will strengthen your connection.

3. Notice the effort your partner puts into something and acknowledge it out loud. For example, you can let him know that you noticed that, despite major or minor difficulties, he did something or brought something to a happy end – even though it would be a piece of cake for you.

4. Open questions will help you and the other person delve deeper into yourself and see what is not always visible, e.g. “What in this situation makes you proud of yourself?”, “What helped you stay calm in this situation, although it was easy to get angry and show it to everyone?”

5. Before you say the words “I’m proud of you,” let your partner feel it inside. It’s a great gift to make the other person’s self-worth grow from the inside.

6. If you have children, teach them the art of celebration, because not celebrating good things in childhood hinders the ability to “relax” and have fun in a relationship later, not to mention the effect on our self-love.

7. Ask your partner to celebrate something with you as often as possible. Success adequate to its celebration – always keep this in the back of your mind. For example: “Honey, I’m really happy with myself and I really want to tell you about it.”

Of course, not everyone feels the need to celebrate their relationship, and some couples may decide that, for example, the tradition of anniversaries does not suit them. If both people discuss it and agree – great, because you are on the same page.

Is there anything you can celebrate today or soon in your relationship? 😀

Or maybe you have a different opinion about celebrations altogether? I’d love to hear from her.

I’m here to help you.
