Hypnotherapy and psychology – How does combining both methods support working with anxiety, stress, and habits?

Sometimes a person knows what they want… yet they still fall back into the same patterns.

“I know I’m overreacting.”

“I know this relationship isn’t serving me.”

“I know I want to change something.”

And yet, something holds them back.

And this is where many people become interested in hypnotherapy. Not as a “magic want.” Not as a quick fix. But as calm, mindful work with what’s happening deeper – in the subconscious, emotions, beliefs, and automatic reactions.

What exactly is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a method of working with a state of deep concentration and relaxation. This is a natural state we also experience every day, sometimes while driving, reading a book, or having a moment of reflection.

In a hypnotherapy room, it’s not about losing control. You don’t “sleep.” Nothing happens against your will. It’s more of a moment where the mind can slow down a bit, and you can examine what usually operates automatically.

In my experience, many people come to their first session with a bit of tension and the question: “What if I don’t let myself be hypnotized?”

And very often after the session, I hear: “It was calmer and more natural than I thought.”

What does hypnotherapy help with?

Every person is different, so hypnotherapy doesn’t look the same for everyone. We don’t work “with a set formula.”

However, most often, people come in with issues such as:

 anxiety and internal tension,

 chronic stress,

 relationship difficulties,

 feeling stuck,

 lack of self-confidence,

 overanalysing,

 difficult emotions,

 habits and automatic reactions,

 difficulty letting go of control,

 feeling overwhelmed by everyday life.

Sometimes the problem is immediately apparent. And sometimes a person just says, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I feel like something inside me needs to change.”

And that’s also a sufficient beginning.

Why is it worth combining counselling and hypnotherapy?

In my work, I particularly value the combination of psychological understanding of a person with working with the subconscious. Because awareness alone is often not enough. We can understand our patterns… and yet remain stuck in the same place emotionally.

That’s why during my work; the following are important to me:

 conversation,

 a sense of security,

 understanding the mechanisms,

 emotional regulation,

 and only then deeper work with the subconscious.

No pressure. No “fixing the person.” More like a calm discovery of what has been working in the background until now.

Does online hypnotherapy work?

Yes, many people use online hypnotherapy today and feel even more comfortable during such sessions than in person.

Your own armchair. A familiar blanket. Tea nearby. A familiar space.

This often makes a huge difference for the nervous system.

Of course, the most important thing is proper preparation, a calm space, and a relationship based on trust. Because effective work doesn’t start with “technique.” It starts with a sense of security.

Hypnotherapy isn’t magic – it’s a process.

You can find many promises of quick change online. I believe more in process than in “instant transformation.” Sometimes a single session brings important insight. Sometimes it takes time.

Hypnotherapy doesn’t eliminate all the difficulties in life. But it can help you better understand yourself, notice your patterns, and create space for change.

And sometimes that’s exactly what we need most: not fighting with yourself but calmly listening to yourself. If you feel something inside you is calling for change… maybe you don’t have all the answers yet. Sometimes curiosity is enough. A first conversation. A moment of pause.

I work in a calm, mindful manner, tailored to the individual, not to a pre-defined pattern. Because behind every symptom, tension, or habit lies a story. And every story deserves to be heard.
